Inserting FLASH or SWiSH into Frontpage
As you may already know, we offer SWiSH intro
pages in our catalog. What you may not know is SWiSH is a program you
can purchase (or try for free for 15 days) at
www.swishzone.com.
SWiSH will produce "Flash-like" effects for text and pictures.
Each month we get a few requests on how to
insert a SWiSH Intro page into an existing FrontPage web site. So,
here we go...
- Unzip the files contained in the SWiSH intro
package.
- Open your web in FrontPage and rename your
current index.htm page to main.htm.
- From the toolbar at the top of the FrontPage
screen, select FILE, IMPORT and then select the .htm, .swf. and .swi
files you unzipped in step one. Click OK.
- Pull the index.htm page into your web's
navigation structure and line up the main.htm page right below it.
- Open each page in FrontPage to make certain
the FrontPage generated navigation bars are showing the pages they
should. Keep in mind if your web site does not use a FrontPage Theme
to generate navigation bars, you can skip this step. To change the
link bar attributes, right click on the navigation bar and select
LINK BAR PROPERTIES.
- Save all your changed pages.
- Publish you web.
Three things to keep in mind:
- Your new index.htm page will require new meta
tags. You can pull these off your main.htm page and paste them in
HTML view in FrontPage.
- Your SWiSH intro will not play if you use the
FrontPage "Preview" option or the "Preview in Browser" option.
- Following these instructions will ensure your
visitors land on your SWiSH intro page and that you will not
overwrite it next time you publish your web.
